OOTB 718 – Thursday 17th March – The Safari Lounge

Out of the Bedroom 718 is live this Thursday, 17th March, downstairs in The Safari Lounge, 21 Cadzow Pl, Edinburgh EH7 5SN. It’s St. Patrick’s Day which is a essentially a celebration of music and life – so what better way to do that than with an evening at OOTB?

The open mic is on from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Entry is free and sign up for a slot is from 7.30 p.m.

All are welcome! There will be a house guitar available and we will have amplification.

Out of the Bedroom will be in The Safari Lounge every fortnight in 2022.

Out of the Bedroom 717 took place at The Safari Lounge on Thursday 3 March. The performers were: Startled Bee, Tina Avery, Elsie MacDonald, Tau Boo, Mike Wheeler, James Igoe, Indigo Rose, Majk Stokes, Jim Bryce (host). Tau Boo was on sound desk.

The good news is that Covid-19 restrictions are no longer in place in terms of numbers, so all are welcome!

The open mic is on from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Entry is free and sign up for a slot is from 7.30 p.m.

There will be a house guitar available and we will have amplification.

OOTB 714 – Thursday 20th January

Out of the Bedroom 714 is face-to-face and live this Thursday, 20th January, downstairs in The Safari Lounge, 21 Cadzow Pl, Edinburgh EH7 5SN.

The open mic is on from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Entry is free and sign up for a slot is from 7.30 p.m.

There will be a house guitar available. This week will be an unplugged session due to staff shortages.

*NOTE: Covid-19 restrictions are still in place and numbers per household are strictly limited. Please contact hello @ outofthebedroom.co.uk to confirm and ensure your place. Please take a lateral flow test before you come. We hope that this will be the last live OOTB event with health restrictions.

We will be in The Safari Lounge every fortnight in 2022, with our Out of the BedZoom event every other week. OOTB 713 – Thursday 6th January – we’re back!

Happy New Year to one and all! It’s 2022 and Out of the Bedroom 713 is back face-to-face and live this Thursday, 6th January, in The Safari Lounge, 21 Cadzow Pl, Edinburgh EH7 5SN. The open mic is on from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Entry is free and sign up for a slot is from 7.30 p.m.

Note: due to Covid restrictions, numbers per household are strictly limited. Please contact hello@outofthebedroom.co.uk to confirm and ensure your place. Please take a lateral flow test before you come. We hope that restrictions will be removed for future events.

We’ll be in the downstairs room in The Safari Lounge where we had a very enjoyable Christmas party in December. There will be a house guitar and a PA as per usual, as well as a house keyboard. We hope you can join us on Thursday evening – all are welcome: old, new and in-between.

We will be in The Safari Lounge every fortnight in 2022, with our Out of the BedZoom event every other week. The line up for the last OOTBZ of 2021 on 30 December was: Jim Bryce, Catherine Duguid, James Igoe, Alex Payne (host), Majk Stokes. In attendance were Michelle and Jackie.

OOTB 712 – Thursday 9th December – Christmas Special

Exciting times! We’re back in real life, face-to-face and live this Thursday 9th December in The Safari Lounge, 21 Cadzow Pl, Edinburgh EH7 5SN in the Abbeyhill district in Edinburgh on the A1! 🥳🥂 Out of the Bedroom 712, postponed from 19th March 2020, will be our Christmas Special. 🎅 We’re on from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Entry is free and sign up for an open mic slot is from 7.30 p.m.

We’ll be downstairs in our own wee room in The Safari Lounge which is accessed from a short staircase at the back of the bar. There will be a house guitar, house keyboard and a PA as per usual. We hope you can join us on Thursday evening. No Zoom link required!!!

OOTB 711 took place a long time ago…. on Thursday 5th March 2020 (in Woodland Creatures). There have been 84 Out of the Bedroom events on Zoom since then and we will have alternate Safari Lounge / Zoom nights from Jan 2022. Watch this space for more details.

OOTB 711 – Thursday 5th March – SCEViP

Out of the Bedroom 711 will take place in Woodland Creatures on Thursday, 5th March from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Entry is free and sign up for an open mic slot is from 7.30 p.m., with 10 to 15 minutes per act depending on the number of performers. Original music only for the open slots and all music lovers are welcome. A house guitar will be available for musicians.

Our feature act this week is SCEViP. SCEViP is Stephanos Constandinou’s solo project revolving around an electric violin and a loop pedal. Inspired by the likes of Apocalyptica, Andrew Bird and Fotis Siotas, Stephanos makes use of the most unconventional techniques to deliver mesmerising shows that are up to par with a full band’s performance. Being a fan of alternative and progressive rock music, Stephanos gives an unusual twist to the sounds of the violin, successfully transforming it into a musical manifest and giving a whole new meaning to the phrase: one-man band AKA the Looping Madness.

OOTB 710 took place on Thursday 20th February. Line up was: Matthew Sier, Rosie Nimmo, Dog on a Swing, Gordon Sutherland, Colin Whitelaw, Neil Matthew Fox, Jim Bryce, Roy McIntosh, Majk Stokes, feature act: Sam Shackleton.

OOTB 710 – Thursday 20th February – Sam Shackleton

Out of the Bedroom 710 will take place in Woodland Creatures on Thursday, 20th February from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Entry is free and sign up for an open mic slot is from 7.30 p.m., with 10 to 15 minutes per act depending on the number of performers. Original music only for the open slots and all music lovers are welcome. A house guitar will be available for musicians.

Our feature act this week is Sam Shackleton. Sam is a 24 year old singer-songwriter from Edinburgh. He was born in Stirling and raised all over Scotland, from the Borders to the Highlands. He is in his final year studying Scottish Studies at the University of Edinburgh and is deeply inspired by the rich oral and musical traditions of Scotland, Ireland and the USA. He sings and plays banjo, guitar and harmonica. His unique sound is a mix of traditional, country, folk and blues with a Scottish spirit.

OOTB 709 took place on Thursday 6th February. Line up was: Grant Robertson, Danny Lee, Roy McIntosh, Jean Thomson, Paul the Primitive Magician, Tau Boo, Jim Bryce, feature act: Chris Glen.

OOTB 709 – Thursday 6th February – Chris Glen

Out of the Bedroom 709 will take place in Woodland Creatures on Thursday, 6th February from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Entry is free and sign up for an open mic slot is from 7.30 p.m., with 10 to 15 minutes per act depending on the number of performers. Original music only for the open slots and all music lovers are welcome. A house guitar will be available for musicians.

Our feature act this week is Chris Glen. Chris Glen’s approach to songwriting is frequently compared to the likes of Jeff Buckley or Ray Lamontagne with it’s roots in the folk music of his native Scotland but with a flare for expressive guitar work and an emotionally charged and expressive approach to vocal melody. In 2015 the EP “Ensemble” was released along with a tour of Scandinavia and the capital cities of Europe.

OOTB 708 took place on Thu 9 January. Line up was: Tina Louise Avery, Ian Sclater, Colin Whitelaw, Roy McIntosh, James Igoe.
