OOTB 599 – 21st March – Native Oak

Posted 18/03/2015 By admin

native oakHello. Winter is fading before our very eyes and OOTB have booked a special feature act for this Saturday to welcome in a new spring. Irish-born Native Oak is touring Britain with his distinctive brand of music and we’re delighted he has stopped by for another time at Edinburgh’s OOTB. His music is raw gutsy folk at heart, but has a laid-back ambient feel sung along with deep emotional vocals that take you on a personal journey. Witness this genre of music at its best cutting straight to the point with no unnecessary fluff needed, at the Kilderkin bar of course. You would be simply daft to miss out. Here’s a link to some of Native Oak’s music: nativeoak.bandcamp.com

Open slots are up for grabbing as usual. Sign up from 7:30pm and OOTB will separate the wood from the trees at 8pm. Original material only.

Will be bouncy fun fun fun to see you there…

OOTB 598 – 14th March – Brian Hughes

Posted 11/03/2015 By admin

screamin whisperHello. This week’s featured act is a talented Irish-born young man who goes by the name of Brian Hughes, also known by the pseudonym “Screamin’ Whisper”. Brian moved to Edinburgh in 2013 at the age of seventeen and quickly emerged as a bright new talent to hit the city’s live music scene. He was also chosen to play with the Edinburgh Schools Rock Ensemble as his style has a confident rock and blues influence. He’s played on the OOTB stage several times and we are delighted to have Brian as our headline this Saturday. Come along and witness a musician with a promising career and whose records you’ll be buying in the near future.

He is currently recording a new E.P. ‘Beautiful Chaos’ and we’re all looking forward to hearing it.

HarryHarrisHello. Out Of The Bedroom have re-booked this Saturday’s headline act due to an unfortunate cancellation some weeks ago. Harry Harris is an incredibly talented songwriter and performer who will have your eyes and ears glued to him for the duration of his set. He is currently on a mammoth UK tour and it’s an absolute pleasure to welcome him to OOTB this weekend.

Since signing to Wild Sound Recordings in 2013, Harry has been building a reputation as one of the UK’s most original and formidable singer/songwriters. A ruthless guitar player with a voice that moves from the explosive to the intimate, he writes songs that grab you by the scruff of the neck and refuse to let go, with influences ranging from the great American songwriter Warren Zevon to bar-rock band The Hold Steady to Scottish folk singer Karine Polwart.

“I first met Harry Harris when he was a fresh, early teenage boy. He played us a song or two and impressed me, immediately, as a kid with focus and fearless dedication, both aiming at building songs. All these years later, I find the same focus and fearless dedication. This man can write and build songs and stories.” – Eric Taylor, Blue Ruby Music USA.

OOTB 593 Update

Posted 06/02/2015 By admin

Yo. Bryan Donoghue has pulled out of the feature slot this Saturday due to a chest infection. So as a replacement, and to our regret, we have booked Tau Boo instead. Sorry, but we couldn’t find anyone else at such short notice. You will only have to suffer just half an hour of this poor unfortunate soul. Open slots are also still up for grabs. See you there…

Vincent GauchotWell hello hello hello and bonjour. OOTB have booked a rather special headline act for this week. French-born Vincent Gauchot is a very talented instrumentalist who has a unique brand of guitar playing. Vincent has a technical approach to his finger-picking style that involves complex rhythms, chords and hammer-ons that are intertwined with percussive taps on the body of his guitar. Not only is he engrossing to listen to, but fascinating to watch as he combines all these techniques (and more) to produce works that are entirely musical and rewarding to any audience he plays to. You would be completely insane not to turn up this Saturday to witness a performance of top quality original music.

Here’s a link to his website: vincentgauchot.bandcamp.com

Performance slots are available as usual. Sign up from 7:30pm and OOTB starts the startling starter of stars at 8pm. Original material only ‘n’ that.

Thanks to ‘Dog On A Swing’ who stood in as featured act last Saturday due to Harry Harris having to suddenly cancel. Hopefully Harry will play for us sometime in the near future.

Will be quite squelchy to see you all there…
