William Douglas on stage playing guitar and singingRun by local legend William Douglas, this songwriters’ workshop, run by Out of the Bedroom, will be an opportunity to take some time out, learn some new tricks and hopefully emerge with a new song!

Update: The price has been reduced to £20 to make this event as affordable as possible for attendees, given the current cost of living crisis.

William Douglas is an Edinburgh based songwriter and professional musician. William has been writing and performing his own music since his teens and has been in several much-loved bands including Miracle Glass Company who played at the New York Tartan Parade 2019 and several festivals in the UK and Europe. William runs several open mic nights in Edinburgh and has hosted songwriting workshops for children. 

Light refreshments will be available on the day.

Out of the Bedroom is Edinburgh’s longest-running open mic night and is sponsoring the event.

Sir Tom Watton playing the Meadows Festival Out of the Bedroom open mic stage in 2023Out of the Bedroom, Edinburgh’s longest running open mic night, will be taking over the open mic stage at The Meadows Festival in central Edinburgh on Saturday 1st June! It is a free event and all are welcome. 

It is a free event and all are welcome. It will be our third year running the open mic and we hope to get the quality of weather, crowd and performers that we have had in the last two years.

Original music only, the live music will run from 11.45 a.m. to 4.45 p.m.

 

You will have to be ready to sign up to play at one of the three specific signing-up slots:

  • 11.30 – 11.40 a.m. (Part 1)
  • 1.15 – 1.25 p.m. (Part 2)
  • 3.00 – 3.10 p.m. (Part 3)

There will be a PA with a house guitar, a house keyboard, four microphones and four DI boxes.
