OOTB 605 – 2nd May – Sam Morris

Posted 30/04/2015 By admin

sam morrisHello and all that sort of thing ting-a-ling. More open slots are up for the taking this Saturday evening along with a great headline act who blew us away last Saturday, so we had to feature him this week.

Sam Morris is a very talented singer/songwriter with a great sense of humour. Armed with guitar and harmonica, his musical style has an Americana folk/country style sung with confident vocals. I’m not sure where he originally comes from, but he seems to have an American accent (sorry Sam if you’re Canadian or of other descent). Online there’s not much information about Sam, so I’m just going on what I heard from his three songs last week at OOTB. Also online there are lots and lots of Sam Morris’s out there and I could only find his regular Facebook page where I stole and edited the above photo for you all to see. So no links to any of his music. You’ll just have to get along to the Kilderkin bar and hear for yourselves this emerging new talent.

Sign up from 7:30pm if you want some stage time and we’ll whistle-start the performance train at 8pm. Original material only if you please.

Will be utterly unshabby to see you there…

You can catch him hosting Bannermans open mic every fortnight and he released several studio recordings late last year on You Tube. So we are looking forward to an acoustic set of his own songs this Saturday evening.

Bobby Murdoch hosts the Wee Pub open mic located in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket with great success and growing public reputation. Irish-born Native Oak is touring Britain with his distinctive brand of music and we’re delighted he has stopped by for another time at Edinburgh’s OOTB. His music is raw gutsy folk at heart, but has a laid-back ambient feel sung along with deep emotional vocals that take you on a personal journey. Witness this genre of music at its best cutting straight to the point with no unnecessary fluff needed, at the Kilderkin bar of course. You would be simply daft to miss out. screamin whisperHello. This week’s featured act is a talented Irish-born young man who goes by the name of Brian Hughes, also known by the pseudonym “Screamin’ Whisper”. Brian moved to Edinburgh in 2013 at the age of seventeen and quickly emerged as a bright new talent to hit the city’s live music scene. He’s played on the OOTB stage several times and we are delighted to have Brian as our headline this Saturday. Come along and witness a musician with a promising career and whose records you’ll be buying in the near future.
