Our feature act this week is SMUT.. SMUT. is a young singer, writer, producer and musician with a grunge background taking an increasingly electronic direction with her music. Formerly performing solely with a guitar, she now also sings to hip hop and r’n’b-inspired instrumentals created by either herself or collaborative artists. Although varied with her musical creations, a vulnerable and raw approach to creative expression defines much of SMUT.’s work.

A musical magpie, veering from rock to MOR, from folk to jazz to music-hall. Pastdoings include music for children’s radio, theatre and squeaky stuff. Tasters from his new album “A Grope of Foolish Poke Songs” may possibly feature. He may well try to lumber you with copies of it, and his previous two. Be warned!

“Wildly eccentric.. with some great tunes” (James Igoe)
“Intelligent, thought-provoking……If we’d known him for the last 20 or 30 years …..he’d probably sell bushels of CD’s, (MGCK)
“Strums a guitar, plonks a keyboard, and has no idea why he’s here.” (Jim Bryce)

She has since expanded her repertoire of melancholy songs, often reminiscent of the sad Scottish folksongs, which she is also a keen performer of.
