Callum MackinnonOut of the Bedroom #672 is on at Leith’s finest Woodland Creatures this Thursday, 28th June from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Entry is, as always, free and sign up for an open mic slot is from 7.30 p.m., with 10 to 15 minutes per act depending on the number of performers. Callum Mackinnon is a Leith-based solo artist playing his take on Americana/country/folk. Callum’s heartfelt songs take their cues from Cash, Waits and Cave as well as more modern influences like Chris Stapleton and Colter Wall, all with his own alternative twist. Callum says: I’ve written songs, on and off all of my life, from punk and metal through to folk and country and finally found something I’m comfortable with – honest songs, warts and all. I’m looking forward to releasing my debut six-track mini album in September 2018 but, until then, hope to share it live wherever I can.”
“Callum has a lovely voice, very well suited to the songs he writes.” [Leith Folk Club]
“Conjured up images of muggy nights on the street corners of New Orleans and the neon-lit honky-tonks in Nashville.” [Club Nitty Gritty]
“Callum was a top quality addition to the evening and I look forward to hearing a lot more from him” [Out of the Bedroom]
